Recutting splines on the Transmission shaft for my Electric Jeep
Переглядів 38 тис.14 днів тому
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1956 Jeep CJ5 and converting it to an electric vehicle, and the next hurdle to overcome was re-splining the transmission input shaft to mate to the motor. This was tricky, but I took my time working through it and I'm really happy with the result. I used Anchor Lube in this video and I'm excited they're now a supporter of the channel. Maple Syrup Evaporator Scrap build

It's spring in New England, which means it's maple syrup season, which means I needed to build a new evaporator out of whatever junk I had laying around. A scrap built evaporator? Salvaging Jeep parts that weren't "worth saving"
Переглядів 14 тис.4 місяці тому
There weren't too many parts of the body of my 1956 Jeep CJ5 that were worth saving. There wasn't even a tailgate, so I bought one that still probably wasn't worth saving when you consider replacements are readily availible. But I like salvaging these's parts, so in this episode I turn the junk tool compartment and tailgate into useable parts. If you like what I'm doing here and find some value...
I hate my snowblower. Let's make it slightly less terrible.
Переглядів 11 тис.4 місяці тому
My snowblower seems to break every time I use it. This time one of the splines on the clicker mechanism that locks the axle stripped out. Since the axle lock was never reliable and I tried to never unlock it (though it would pop out on its own sometimes), I decided to just replace it with a solid locked axle. I used Anchor Lube in this video and I'm excited they're now a supporter of the channe...

When I cut up the old frame from my 1956 Jeep CJ-5, I set aside the front clip with the thought it might make a cool bead roller. I'm at the point where I need to make new rear floor pans for the Jeep, so I finally got around to making the bead roller. Jeep CJ5 Rebuild Ep. 11- Wheel Houses
Переглядів 17 тис.6 місяців тому
I've worked though my project list to the point where I can finally put some more time into rebuilding my 1956 Jeep CJ5. In this episode I worked on forming the wheel houses, including hammer forming the beads in them, with mixed results. I didn't make some really nice braces for them though. I really love your channel, your videos are always interesting and I’m really enjoying the Jeep project, specially the cast aluminium adaptor for the gearbox! I completely get it what you said at the start as I’m currently trying to make a small dividing head with an electric motor gear reductor( it will have a bit of slop but for now it’s acceptable) an some other suff as a spindle for a toll post grinder. I always wanted to change the motor on my lathe with a 3phase one and a VFD and I’ve decided that it’s time to do it so I’ve taken the occasion to strip down the saddle cross slide etc do do some maintenance that it’s needed once in a while.
Hard for me to express how much I’ve enjoyed your channel ❤
Nice job editing it along the same style as Tony :)
What was it you used after cleaning the parts Wd40 & what. Thanks
I like the part where you used the thing that you were fixing to fix the thing that you were using.
I like these vids. :)
Wow, that was a beautiful screwdriver at 5:02. Cheers and thanks for sharing!
Designed to outlast the Nazis... well they are back in the USA, so this lathe gotta keep on trucking!
First came here after I bought my Logan. Glad to see it get more airtime.
I understand the too many projects entirely, I think anybody with a shop does. Also, I was only half watching(working on projects in my garage) and when you were bending that handle, it looked like you were banging on a lit oxy acetylene torch with the hammer.
I did a double take that shot too
Partner, I'll watch anything you post. I've been watching for a couple of years, and your videos are instructive and entertaining.
Loving the weekly videos!!
Jeremy, these videos are the only good thing in my life. Thank you.
The weathered look of your lathe inspired me to not paint my stripped 1936 South Bend lathe. Love that look.
Well done Jeremy. Although I’m enjoying the Jeep project I can watch this type of video all day. Thanks. Stuart 🇦🇺
Slick bushing. Gotta love a smooth working machine.
One of my favorite channels right now 😀
One thing i really appreciate on your chanel is some of your tool and method are as dubious as mine ^^ (if it works it works :p ) All loooking good, keep up the good work !
I’m new to the channel, I think I’m gonna stick around! Please do t change your style, you videos are informative and enjoyable. Your ev jeep project is great, all you have to do is keep posting and working on these projects though to finish!
Ive got a face plate stuck on my lathe spindle...damn thing is driving me nuts...It wont come off and niether will enough of the rest of the lathe to get the spindle out....actually I think the spindle won't come out without getting the face plate off. catch 22 Pleased your lathe is getting some well deserved R and R Thanks for sharing
I feel your pain. At some point you may need to go for the nuclear option and cut it off (like I did with collet chuck in my mill. Trepan off most of the face plate, then turn down to the threads (I presume it’s a threaded spindle.
@@JeremyMakesThings it is threaded yes. Thats a good idea thanks, If I am careful I can cut back to the tips of the spindle thread and the rest should mostly drop out ...he says hopefully... I might even film it lol
Good video 😐🇬🇧
You must have been well chuffed with the locking handle .
Having fun! Enjoyed, thanks.
I can relate to the 'I have too many projects going, so let's tackle another.' I find these small projects to be a satisfying distraction from the larger projects that are becoming overwhelming at the moment.
Repair jobs are never done in a shop, I can sit and think of fifty things that need fixin but evertime I start something shows up to be fixed, lol 😂 ain't live grand..😅
I'm reasonably confident that deferred maintenance is the easiest maintenance.
👍👍😎👍👍
One of my favourite channels right now. Doing realistic projects with a realistic budget, right up my alley 😊
Next solar cells and your own power plant. Make your own fuel. Try that with Hydrogen or gas or diesel or natural gas..or propane.
Im now a anchor lube user, thanks
Thanks for sharing 😊
Bet you would love a Hardinge. 👍
I had to do exactly the same bushing repair on the Boley Lathe saddle drive a couple of years ago. You made a good video of this stuff. I always struggle to find a coherent thread to make a video of such little maintenance projects.
I would suggest checking out McMaster for oilite bushings. They have many combinations and since you machined the slide, you could easily match one up.
Yes. You are an advanced animal.
I used the lathe to fix the lathe.
Fixing the machine that fixes the machine. That's cool. But dont feed me any BS about the lock handle. Sure, it now clears the tail stock base. But clearing the crank handle when it is vertical? That was luck... 《g》
As I always say to Stefan, “Gut gemacht !”
Interesting... for the carriage lock, I thought you were going to drill a cross-hole and cut it short.
My name’s Jeremy, and I have too many projects.. ..”Hi Jeremy..” 😂
I love how you got the new lock handle to fit "just so".
👍🌟👍
It’s satisfying to know I’m not alone in project accumulation 🤔. 👍
One of my favorite channels right now tbh, especially since aging wheels abandoned the bus project, I felt like I lost one of those close-to-home project channels. Rebuilding old crap to be how you like it is just so awesome
My logan 200 needs all the same treatments except the half nut which i think is still pretty solid.
excellent vid thanks

Just subscribed because we have the same Index Mill machine! Haha. Really enjoyed the video
Ah, the little fixes. It just never seem to end.
Better lathe than never.
